Reporting directly to the Design Supervisor, this position will be responsible to work in conjunction with the project Lead Designer and Project Engineer to check and review the detailed 3D Models and drawings required for each individual project.  The Checker shares responsibility for project schedule, accuracy of the models and drawings with the Project Engineer and lead designer.

What You Will Do

Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Review and validate engineering models for gas compression systems, pipe spools, skids and structural steel detail drawings and related infrastructure, ensuring they meet company standards and industry regulations (ASME, API, etc.).
  • Conduct clash detection, interference checks, and design verification to identify and resolve potential issues before construction.
  • Ensure models and drawings adhere to design specifications and are free from errors or inconsistencies that could impact project timelines or safety.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure the seamless integration of designs across disciplines (mechanical, structural, electrical, etc.).
  • Utilize industry-standard software tools (AutoCAD, Cadworx, Navisworks, etc.) to check models for compliance and quality.
  • Perform risk assessments on models to identify potential safety or operational concerns.
  • Provide feedback to design teams on model improvements or necessary revisions.
  • Support project teams throughout the design and construction phases, ensuring models are implemented accurately in the field.

Education, Skills and Experience

Your education and experience include:

  • 6 plus years of experience in model checking, specifically in gas compression, piping, or midstream oil and gas projects.
  • Proficiency in engineering design software (AutoCAD, CADworx, Navisworks, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of industry codes, standards, and safety regulations.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Physical Strain

  • Sitting for long periods of time
  • Lifting 10 pounds maximum with occasional lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds
  • Must meet all OSHA regulations and must wear all required PPE when in the shop environment
