Reporting to the Foreman and Lead Hands of the Vessels/Spooling Departments, this position is responsible for the lay-out, assembly, testing, and tear-down of the Vessels and Spools according to the Quality Control Program inspection requirements.
What You Will Do
Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:
- Read and interpret blueprints
- Coordinate with shop Foreman/ Lead Hands on daily priorities
- Follow written and verbal instructions from the Foreman/Lead Hand
- Bolt up and pressurizing of spools and vessels
- Monitor pressure readings
- Complete required hydro test sheets and documentation
- Tear down and assist with the shipment of pipes, spools, and vessels
- Ability to use pneumatic, power and hand tools
- Organize and keep work area clean
- Participate in Compass Safety and Quality Control Programs
- Work and operate equipment in a safe and competent manner
- Review Compass Safe Job and Safe Work Procedures related to activities performed
- Identify hazards on job site and use proper controls to mitigate hazards
- Ask questions if unsure of any task or procedure

Your education and experience include:

- Education, Skills and Experience Required
- Must be a registered apprentice or journeyman in either:
- Pipefitting (Steamfitter, pipefitter, gasfitter)
- Plumber
- Must have knowledge of hydrostatic test pressures, flange classes and ratings, digital gauges and charting
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and deadlines
- Crane operation, Rigging and Sling awareness
Physical Strain
Include an intro to physical strain
- Requires moving and maintaining self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including Bending, squatting, climbing, stooping, twisting, and reaching
- Requires employee to have ability to be on their feet for 10 hour shift
- Must be able to lift or carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- Must wear required PPE, including fire retardant clothing, hard hats, face shields, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, respirator as required
- Requires employee to occasionally climb stairs or ladders and must be capable of maintaining balance on stairs or ladders without assistance up to 25 feet
