Quality NDE Inspector is responsible for locating and addressing errors in a manufacturing process that may cause poor product quality and performing and analyzing required examinations and/or inspections to ensure the highest degree of product quality in daily work operation. The NDE role has responsibility for independently conducting non-destructive examinations (NDE) to assess the conditions of weldments in pressure vessels, piping, assemblies, and structural steel. NDE inspector should be independent and capable of safely delivering high quality services on-time. When the position is internally qualified, he/she will support internal training and technique development utilizing automated and computerized inspection systems..

What You Will Do

Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Perform NDE on all types of fabrication, welding and assembly of pressure vessels, piping, material, structural steel, and process/compressor equipment.
  • Interpret and evaluate results according to applicable standards, codes, specifications, or procedures.
  • Translate NDT codes, standards, specifications, and procedures into NDT instructions adapted to the actual working conditions.
  • Set up and verify PAUT equipment settings.
  • Prepare UT PA written instructions.
  • Ensure compliance with drawings, technical specifications, related international standards, and customer pre-defined quality expectations.
  • Report and address quality issues related to non-conforming material or components and obtain timely disposition to maintain production flow.
  • Maintain an attitude conducive to continuous improvement and be an active contributor to the teamwork concepts.
  • Perform and participate in all required audits including and not limited to workstation audits, Layered Process Audits (LPA) and international code/standard audits if applicable.
  • Coaching and guiding Quality Inspectors and Manufacturing team on NDE requirements and acceptance criteria.

Education, Skills and Experience

Your education and experience include:

  • Minimum High School diploma or minimum 3 years of NDE experience
  • NDT Ultrasonic Phased Array Level II with experience in guided wave ultrasonic and/or shear wave techniques
  • Minimum 3 years hands-on NDT experience in ASME code Sec V, Sec VIII and B31.3.
  • Basic Knowledge in the use of Microsoft suite of office software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Minimum 3 years hands-on experience of using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and other gages.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical notes, and specifications.
  • Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Basic knowledge of ISO 9001.
  • Demonstrated understanding of ASME, ANSI, ASNT, ASTM, AWS, NACE and API national codes.
  • Past experience of using Quality module in Oracle.
  • Fluency in Spanish in reading, writing, and oral communication is preferred.
  • LSS (Lean Six Sigma) white belt.
  • CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) certification.

Physical Strain

  • Standard requirements: Bending, squatting, climbing, twisting, and reaching will all be used occasionally in this position.
  • Lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting
