We are seeking a skilled and experienced Paint & Blaster Foreman to lead a team of painters and blasters in surface preparation and coating operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating daily activities, ensuring safety compliance, maintaining quality standards, and delivering projects on time and within budget.

What You Will Do

Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Keep resource loading up to date, evaluate resource loading and identify opportunities
  • Organize and schedule current and upcoming projects to optimize shop Layout & capacity
  • Confirm Manpower requirements based on resource loading
  • Assign Lead Hands/Coordinators to organize teams or crews to ensure only the appropriate personnel are working on each project
  • Ensure all consumables are ordered, correct and plentiful for current and future projects
  • Evaluate tooling and processes within the department to optimize efficiency
  • Identify crew size, assign workload, and ensure projects are completed in hours quoted while minimizing unnecessary overtime
  • Track all current and upcoming work progress on applicable spreadsheets and tools
  • Maintain quality and good workmanship of all equipment shipped out of Production facility by ensuring requirements of design drawings are reviewed and completed.
  • Identify consumables, equipment, and tools required and review with the General Foreman
  • Work with HR and General Foreman on the hiring, discipline, and dismissal of personnel as necessary
  • Identify employee requirements and relay to Human Resources
  • Perform employee evaluations as required
  • Participate in the Quality Control and Safety Program
  • Advise employees of any potential or actual hazards related to the job (Everyone’s job!) Plan daily work schedules, allocate manpower and materials.
  • Monitor and enforce safety standards and procedures (e.g., PPE use, confined space entry).
  • Train and mentor junior crew members to ensure skill development and quality work.

Education, Skills and Experience

Your education and experience include:

  • Previous experience as a supervisor or Lead Hand in the same field
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • NACE Certification or Strong Knowledge of surface preparation standards and coating systems.
  • CPU efficient
  • Previous experience with water-based epoxy paint and primer mixing requirements an asset.
  • Experienced in proper rigging.
  • Forklift certification preferred and WHMIS certification required.
  • Possesses proficient operational knowledge of painting equipment and supplies.
  • Proficient in basic and industrial paint mixing and applications.
  • Must have CSA approved safety boots
  • Strong people and employee relation skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Good written and oral communication
  • Ability to coach, mentor staff, run meetings and delegate work effectively.
  • Quick problem solving and conflict resolution.
