Reporting to the Foreman and Lead Hands of the Vessels/Spooling Departments, this position is responsible for the lay-out, assembly, testing, and tear-down of the Vessels and Spools according to the Quality Control Program inspection requirements.

What You Will Do

Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Lead and perform hydrostatic pressure testing of piping systems, pressure vessels, and associated equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints
  • Coordinate with shop Foreman/ Lead Hands on daily priorities
  • Follow written and verbal instructions from the Foreman/Lead Hand
  • Plan and execute hydrotesting operations in accordance with engineering specifications, project procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Set up and operate hydrotesting equipment including high-pressure pumps, gauges, manifolds, hoses, test headers, and isolation devices.
  • Conduct system inspections prior to testing to verify proper isolation, venting, filling, and safety precautions.
  • Monitor and control pressure during testing to ensure accurate results and safe operations.
  • Identify leaks, pressure drops, or equipment deficiencies and communicate findings with project supervision.
  • Maintain accurate documentation including test packages, pressure charts, and quality assurance records.
  • Ensure all work is conducted in strict compliance with company safety programs and industry best practices.
  • Support troubleshooting and problem-solving related to piping systems and hydrotesting activities.
  • Maintain hydrotesting equipment and ensure proper calibration and readiness for shop operations.
  • Review Compass Safe Job and Safe Work Procedures related to activities performed
  • Identify hazards on job site and use proper controls to mitigate hazards
  • Ask questions if unsure of any task or procedure

Education, Skills and Experience

Your education and experience include:

  • Registered Apprentice or Journeyman Pipefitter, Steamfitter, Gasfitter, or Plumber, OR
  • Minimum 3 years of hydrotesting experience in industrial, pipeline, or construction environments.
  • Must have knowledge of hydrostatic test pressures, flange classes and ratings, digital gauges and charting
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and deadlines
  • Crane operation, Rigging and Sling awareness
