Reporting directly to the Plant Quality Manager, this position is responsible for identifying, addressing, and reporting defects in the manufacturing process that may cause poor product quality and performing the required inspections, examinations, and or measurements to ensure the highest degree of product quality in daily work operation.
What You Will Do
Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:
- Perform incoming inspection of ASME components and material as defined in BOM or relevant receiving inspection documents and record/document and complete verification per ASME.
- Prepare Inspection and Test Plan in accordance with project specifications and/or Compass standards
- Perform in-process inspection as defined in the relevant Inspection and Test Plans (ITP) and following Compass’ Quality Management system requirements
- Perform visual weld inspection and complete welding documentation
- Interpret Hydrostatic Testing results.
- Perform final inspection and quality check for ASME code vessel and piping.
- Calibrate measuring instruments as required.
- Perform and participate in all required audits
- Ensure compliance with drawings, technical specifications, standards, and customer pre-defined quality expectations.
- Report and address quality issues related to non-conforming material or components and obtain timely disposition to maintain production flow
- Assure assigned Welding Procedure Specifications are presented and followed
- Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related results in a cooperative and supportive manner.
Education, Skills and Experience
Your education and experience include:
- Minimum High School diploma or equivalent GED
- Proficient using complete Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) and PC skills
- Proficient verbal and written communication in English
- Knowledge of Mill Test Reports (MTR) and Heat Number’s (HT#) associated with ASME code vessel fabrication material.
- Knowledge of ASME Section VIII, Div. 1 and ASME B31.3
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on inspection experience either in pressure Vessel / Spool / Compression unit assembly
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and other gages.
- Knowledge of various welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, FCAW, SAW)
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical notes, and specifications.
- Basic knowledge of ISO 9001 or equivalent
- Moderate understanding level of ASME, ANSI, ASNT, ASTM, AWS, NACE, and API National codes.
- Knowledge of AWS / CWI
- Knowledge of NACE or BGAS
- Knowledge of NDT / NDE
- Basic knowledge of PLC programming
- Fluent in Spanish
Physical Strain
Include an intro to physical strain
- Standard Bending, squatting, climbing, stooping, twisting, and reaching will all be required occasionally in this position
- Sitting for long periods of time
- Lifting 50 pounds maximum with occasional lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 30 pounds
- May be required to work at heights of up to 25 feet
- Must meet all OSHA regulations and must wear all required PPE when in the shop environment
