Reporting directly to the Plant Quality Manager, this position is responsible for identifying, addressing, and reporting defects in the manufacturing process that may cause poor product quality and performing the required inspections, examinations, and or measurements to ensure the highest degree of product quality in daily work operation.
What You Will Do
Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:
- Perform incoming inspection for major components and other received material defined in ITP or relevant receiving inspection plans and record/document verification.
- Prepare Inspection and Test Plan in accordance with project specifications and/or Compass standards.
- Perform in-process inspection as defined in the relevant Inspection and Test Plans (ITP) and following Compass’ Quality Management system requirements.
- Perform visual weld inspection and complete welding documentation.
- Perform Hydrostatic Testing and interpret results.
- Verify paint systems for proper preparation and application of coatings in line with Compass standards and/or customer specifications.
- Perform final inspection and quality check for assembly units and loose ship components.
- Perform a FAT test on electrical and instrumentation components.
- Calibrate measuring instruments as required.
- Perform and participate in all required audits.
- Ensure compliance with drawings, technical specifications, standards, and customer pre-defined quality expectations.
- Report and address quality issues related to non-conforming material or components and obtain timely disposition to maintain production flow.
- Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related results cooperatively and supportively.
Education, Skills and Experience
Your education and experience include:
- Minimum High School diploma or equivalent GED
- Proficient using complete Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) and PC skills
- Proficient verbal and written communication in English
- NDT- VT (Visual Test) level II certification
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on inspection experience in pressure Vessel / Spool / Compression unit assembly
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in Electrical and Instrumentation
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in painting inspection
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and other gages.
- Thorough knowledge of various welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, FCAW, SAW)
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs to ensure proper installation and electrical connection of skid components, including point-to-point checks
- Knowledge of national and international standards such as IEC, NEC, NEMA
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical notes, and specifications.
- Basic knowledge of ISO 9001 or equivalent
- AAS in Inspection Technology
- AAS in Welding Technology
- Moderate understanding level of ASME, ANSI, ASNT, ASTM, AWS, NACE, and API National codes.
- AWS / CSWIP – 3.1 welding inspector certification
- NACE or BGAS level II certification
- NDT – UT/ MT/LP level II certification
- Basic knowledge of PLC programming
- Fluent in Spanish
Physical Strain
Include an intro to physical strain
- Standard Bending, squatting, climbing, stooping, twisting, and reaching will all be required occasionally in this position
- Sitting for long periods of time
- Lifting 50 pounds maximum with occasional lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 30 pounds
- May be required to work at heights of up to 25 feet
- Must meet all OSHA regulations and must wear all required PPE when in the shop environment.
